I am sure every blogger in Western Washington will have some comment about the freakish snow we had today. Last Saturday it was 80 degrees and warm enough to drink Kalimotxos outside. Today I am forced to stay indoors and watch soccer, which I am happy to do. Watching Liverpool cruise to a comfortable win and watching ManU almost lose (they were so close, but the modern-stone-age and resident Argentine caveman Tevez flicked in a header late in the game) was a nice way to lay around.
I have been looking for a way to enjoy red wine after a few days and I discovered the basque answer to this problem- the Kalimotxo. Red wine and coke. Sounds terrible but it’s quite tasty, like a sangria-cum-cherry coke. I enjoyed this last Saturday night at Txori, a somewhat new tapas place in Seattle. I recommend the drink, I do not recommend the squid cooked in it’s own ink.
I am hoping the snow does not ruin all the hard work put into our garden last weekend. We went to the Olympia Farmer’s Market on Thursday for lunch and noticed the lack of produce actually available for sale. This round of weather probably won’t help them or us.
